It was a normal day in the town of Edge, not unlike any other. Children played, running in between the crowds, chasing each other, while adults went about their usual business, worrying about this and that. Nothing looked out of place except one small thing, one man who just didn't seem to belong. Rio stared and the man who had entered her cafe eyeing him from head to toe. Everything about him was suspicious, from his shoulder length, silver hair to his unusual attire. Two holsters were placed on either side of his waist ,each, she feared, holding something no ordinary man would carry.
A distant rumble of some sort broke her gaze. The man in the corner seemed intrigued to. The noice grew louder as if it were approaching and Rio knew at once that it was the sound of a motor bike. The bike stoped with a screech and in a few moments, another man entered the cafe. This man was taller and his hair shorter but she spotted the resembalance right away. What was most strange was his hand, which had some sort of machine attached to it. The newest arrival sat himself down next to, who Rio could only assume was somehow related to the first man. The two stared at each other not uttering a word. Rio watched them for another minute or two, but they remained silent and still. Whoever they were, they were costumers ,which had been sparce since the rumours of wolf like creatures had started. Probably a load of nonsense considering things like that had not been seen in years.
Rio continued her work occasionly taking a quick glance over at the men who seemed to be void of all life. Rio heard the sound of another motor bike approaching but there was another noise. The noise grew greater and she recognized it as a scream. The two men rose to their feet and walked slowly out of the shop. Rio followed them to see what all the commotion was about. A large stampede of people, citezens of the town were running towards her. It was only seconds before she realised what they were running from.
A motor bike sped through the crowds, a man mounted on top brandishing some sort of blade. He weaved in and out swiping at any person, adult or child, in reach. The other two men grinned, then turned and jumped on there on bikes. The first man drew two gun like weapons while the second man activated the strange contraption on his arm and it flaired to life, sparking with electricity. She heard the sound of the ignition and saw the men driving staright for the crowd. She could not bare to watch and instead, ran into the cafe and up into her apartment. Locking the door behind her, she hid in her room for what seemed like hours, but what may have been minutes, until the screaming died down. Eventually she brought herself to stare out the window. There, the three men stood.
"Come forth departed souls of Gaia!" proclaimed the newest and also youngest of the three men. Rio stared on wondering what the man had been yelling about but after a second she did not care. A black orb of what looked like water appeared and the sounds of the people who had once walked the streets of Edge screaming filled her ears.
"I grant you new life! Come forth Dark Stalkers!" shouted the youngest of the three. The orb broke off into two black wolves, of what hours ago had only been creatures of fiction to Rio. The two wolves split into two, then the two into four and so on unti there were over one hundred.
"Well done Kadaj," said the man with the guns,"Brother would be proud. This is an army fit of the One-Winged Angel." The one, who Rio assumed must be Kadaj, mearly nodded. Before mounting his motor bike once more. The other two followed suit and they rode off. Where to, she didn't care, as long as they were away from her. Rio unlocked her door and went out to wander the desolate streets of Edge.
